I voted no on Act 73 for several reasons. First I’m not convinced that blanket consolidation will bring the savings we are hoping for. We have been through consolidation efforts with Act 46 and while there were benefits, long union contract negotiations extended the amount of time it took to complete the process, costing money in the meantime. The Vermont House of Representatives passed H545 this week, which is a bill that authorizes the Vermont Department of Health to recommend immunization schedules that may vary from those reported by the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The Vermont Commissioner of Health will receive recommendations from the Vermont Immunization Advisory Council. Like many folks I’ve been taking in the horrific images, videos, and stories from the streets of Downtown LA. My heart is sore with betrayal, frustration, anger, and sadness. The federal landscape continues to pose a challenge to the affordability goals of Vermont. On Saturday I was in Brattleboro with the rest of our Windham County delegation and Treasurer Mike Pieciak. We heard from the community about their fears, hopes, driving principles, and ideas for change. As the 2025 Vermont legislative biennium begins to pick up pace, we  remain steadfast in our commitment to making Vermont more affordable for our communities. So far, our work has been guided by sound investments in the Budget Adjustment Act and thoughtful policy conversations in Committees that work to address the pressing challenges facing our state including rising healthcare costs, workforce shortages, unsustainable property tax increases, the cost of a quality public education system and scarcity of affordable housing. This week we continued receiving updates from Vermont’s economic development and workforce ecosystem. We are staying aware of our national politics. The closure of critical departments like education and freezing of funds requires thoughtful planning and deep thinking about our goals going forward. Read More


I’ve found myself on the Commerce and Economic Development Committee. I’m very excited for this assignment. The commerce committee is responsible for workforce development and training programs, business development and formations, financial institutions, property and casualty, life, and captive insurance, securities, unemployment and workers’ compensation insurance, consumer protection, and other similar policies.
